Fractional CFO Growth

The fractional CFO market provides small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in the U.S. with access to experienced financial executives on a part-time, contract, or as-needed basis, rather than through full-time hires. This model is particularly appealing for SMBs with annual revenues typically between $2 million and $30 million, which often lack the resources for a dedicated CFO.  

Demand has surged, with a 103% increase in interim CFO hires in recent years, and over 120,000 fractional leaders operating in the U.S. as of 2024 (doubling from 2022).

Key trends include a shift toward tech-enabled services, remote/virtual models, and focus on industries like technology, SaaS, e-commerce, and healthcare, where SMBs seek expertise for growth phases, funding rounds, or turnaround scenarios.

Our Story

Paul Manry started Tiger Capital in 2024 after leading his prior firm in number of sell-side M&A deals closed between 2021 to 2023, with over 50 transactions totaling over $300 million in deal value. He also won back-to-back M&A Advisor Deal of the Year Awards during this time.

In 2024, Paul was recruited to serve as CFO for an expanding professional services firm which led to a focus on opportunities within the CFO solutions market. This includes CFO executive placement firms, accounting and finance staffing agencies, and accounting and tax services firms that serve small and medium sized businesses.

Since 2015, Paul has advised on sell-side transactions up to $50 million in deal value and on buy-side transactions from under $10 million to over $1 billion in deal value. This includes working with strategic buyers on deals from Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
